Process
Four steps, one visit
Choose a handset
Choose a Thuraya phone, hotspot or terminal, or bring a compatible Thuraya device.
Bring your documents
Pakistani nationals bring a CNIC copy. Foreign nationals bring a passport copy and a valid visa.
Complete the CAF and BVS
Fill in the Customer Agreement Form and complete biometric verification at a Thuraya centre or authorised dealer.
Activate and call
Your SIM is activated and you can use the Thuraya satellite network.
Local roaming
Satellite outdoors. GSM indoors.
Thuraya has signed roaming agreements with both major GSM operators in Pakistan, Mobilink (now Jazz) and Ufone.
Indoors, where satellite signal is weak, a compatible handset set to GSM preference automatically picks the operator with the stronger signal. You can also choose a preferred network yourself. Tariffs on each GSM network follow the agreement with that operator.
GSM subscribers from networks that have roaming agreements with Thuraya can also use Thuraya satellite services across the coverage area with their existing SIM and a Thuraya handset.
Can I get a Thuraya connection on the same day?
Usually, yes. If your documents are complete and biometric verification succeeds, the line is normally activated on the same visit.
Can a company register connections for its staff?
Yes. Bring a duly approved application on company letterhead with the standard documents.
Can my Thuraya SIM work on Pakistani mobile networks?
Yes. Thuraya has roaming agreements with Mobilink (now Jazz) and Ufone. GSM tariffs vary by operator.
Where can I recharge a prepaid Thuraya line?
At Thuraya Pakistan centres in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi, and through authorised dealers.
